In Joshua 1:9, God said to Joshua: "... be strong and courageous! Do not be afraid or discouraged."
The opposite of strong is weak. But what is weak? From Joshua 1:9, it would seem that weak equals afraid. Therefore, from here, we can say the opposite of strength is fear.
In Joshua's context, God's gave him these words as he prepared to lead the Israelites to cross the Jordan to claim Canaan. God was telling him not to fear the battles ahead. It's the same for us today... to be strong, we must not fear the uncertainties in our lives. God is bigger than our jobs, exams, finances, relationships etc. He is sovereign, with Him by our side, what need is there to fear?
