The just needed to reach out and take it...

In Numbers 13-14, the Israelites were camped at Kadesh, at the southern border of Canaan, the Promised Land. They were preparing to enter Canaan, to lay claim on what God had repeatedly promised them. However, upon the return of the twelve scouts, who brought news of giants who inhabited the land and their large fortified towns, the Israelites felt fearful and and lost their faith in God that He would deliver the land to them.

Canaan was a land overflowing with milk and honey. It was a land of fertile soils and rich crops. God had prepared the land for the Israelites. He wanted to give the land to the them. He had brought them out of Egypt, led them through the desert and was preparing them to receive the land. Had the Israelites kept their faith, they would have been victorious and the land would have been theirs. However, they chose fear over faith, and as a result, they were doomed to wait for forty more years, for an entire generation to die off...

How often are we like the Israelites? God wants to bless us so much. As a loving Father, He wants so much to give His children good gifts. However, because of fear, lack of trust, blindness maybe... we often fail to receive. The gifts are there for the taking... we just need to reach out and take them...
