Today, my small group looked at Romans 1:18-21, which talks of God's wrath against "all sinful, wicked people", specifically those "who suppress the truth by their wickedness" and who "knew God, but they wouldn't worship Him as God or even give Him thanks."
God is God. Just the fact that He is God means that He is deserving of my respect and obedience. Further, not only is God God, but He is also a good God who loves me even while I was and still am in rebellion. The fact that He is such a good God means that He is deserving of my praise, love, allegiance and worship. In short, He should be my center, my everything... the purpose behind all that I do.
However, like those people spoken about in Romans 1:18-21, who don't give God the credit He deserves... I don't give God my whole surrender that He deserves. I don't treat God like He is God. Instead, I treat Him like the convenient ATM machine that I go to whenever I need help. I so often put my work, friends and sleep before Him. I know full well who He is, but still I wouldn't worship and obey as I should.
This is something I need to change. I have to learn to put God first before all else. I don't how how I'm going to this... but fortunately, I have the Holy Spirit as my guide... I just need to trust and follow.
